Heads up in case anyone on here smokes and didnt hear about the hike which I just remembered after the smoke shop was empty.

"Signs posted at the store warn customers that one-pound bags of tobacco – now $17.49 each – will cost $67.49 a bag or more after the tax and new wholesale and retail markups (http://www2.tbo.com/topic/k/markups/) are tacked on."

Ok, here's the way around it. First, dress up like an Indian Chief and claim that your house is a reservation. Then open a casino and a nice gift shop. Then open your own tax free cigarette store and enjoy the peace pipe.

That's what I did...

i guess that now is as good a time as any to stock up on your s-chips....

some places will not be carrying certain products after april 1 b/c the manufacturer is not willing to pay the premium in advance. a gas station near me as a whole slew of cigarettes for 1.99/pack. i don't partake, but people at the machine shop that i use will do me favors for certain flavors of menthol cigarettes, so i've gotten a carton's worth of the stuff in advance. perhaps you'll get lucky and find a similar arrangement.

tim eh?

Ahhhhhhhhhhh the sin tax. Does not bother me that they tax cigs and drink. Gambling too. But now comes the ultimate. THE GREEN TAX. Gas will be back up to four bucks a gallon because of this. I say tax the cigs and drink. Leave the oil alone! Sorry Jeff but you have to pay for your addictions.

I stocked up enough, 4 bux a gallon will turn this country upside down as it caused this major downturn. G-20 meeting might bring some interesting news Thursday.

They cranked up the tobacco tax....nearly 26.00/pound for loose leaf here. NC also joined in on the sin tax and jacked up alcohol prices, too.

At this rate the alternative smoke will be cheaper before long.

Good-Tax it out of existence. That stuff kills in all forms. I grew up in tobacco country and my family raised it until my dad decided it was bad stuff and quit raising it and quit smoking it.

Well I am not a smoker - but I am getting very concerned about the governments solution to all - taxes. Obama is way out of control.
