We know that when the CPS (crank position sensor) is/are disconnected then the engine would crank but won't turn over. Here is how it can be put to good use. Last weekend I changed oil and filter and the oil filter canister should best be filled up with oil before engine runs, so that oil pressure can build up rapidly to the heads and reduce wear on the cam lobes. In the past I either fill the canister quickly with new oil and bolted the lid; or removed the fuel pump relays and crank the engine until the dash red oil can light disappeared. This time instead I unplugged the two CPS sensors from the junction between the two fuel pressure regulators. Then cranked. It took three sessions of somewhat long cranking (stopped in between to prevent starter overheat) before the red light disappeared, partly because I use 10W30 not the 10W40 as recommended. Replugged CPS and the car was ready to go. Much simpler than the previous methods.
