these lists are usually lame, but this one is more sad, 'cause it's true. no. 10 and no. 1 reasons are spot on.

The title had me nervous but I am pleased to report NONE of those conditions apply.

This is so e34-ish

In a new car, it’s easy to take things such as accurate readouts for granted. You look at a gauge, and you know exactly what the state of your car is.

But on a beater, it’s a different story. The owner of a proper beater knows he can never trust those things. In a properly beat down car, the gas gauge will read half a tank, and a naïve owner will be lulled into a false state of security. Suddenly, as he passes the sign that says “next gas 60 miles”, the needle will drop like a bag of hammers and come to rest about 3mm above E, revealing the true situation: You're f**ked.

some of these apply but I'm remedying them... don't think there's much I can do about the fuel gauge, though.

Along with the beater check list, it would be wise to learn the 'lexicon' of our way of life.

http://www.am1500.com/gl/lexicon.shtml

Please note the term - cylinder index. Mine is a proper 15 points higher than my age at 63 cylinders. (if magic spinning triangles are counted by the number of edges). I don't think that pistons yet to be installed can be counted. Maybe on Garage Door Opener. Please note that this is Minnesota, Californians and Floridians should be permanently banned from using this loophole.

Cheers,

Fin

29 over my age, all in driveable vehicles. I'm old too.
