Will a wheel from an MSport,M5 fit my 540? I'll miss lookiing at the little Roundell on the one on there now but I won't miss the big and growing hole in the leather at 12 o'clock.

must be ..i dont see there would be ANY difference between your car and a 540 sport in the steering column...my 535 had the mtech 2 wheel as std.....

Only difference in wheels/columns is by build date. Early E34's had a different spline count than later models.

A wheel from an M-Sport or later M5 will certainly work on your 540.

It's being listed as 9/93 build and later. But I think it also works for cars built a couple of years before that.
