Do any of those mods actually improve the output of the headlights?

No, just different from the standard ones.

To improve the headlights, cleaning the reflectors helps, maybe some good and expensive bulbs, but I tried it all and finally I installed HID into my Hella (before was standard H1 55W), and since then I can see finally.
Have to admit, I was against a mod from normal to HID for some years, but as my friends converted their E32 and E34, I was convinced and also made it, no regrets.

HID of what temperature did you chose to best match the color of the regular high beam ?

What's the caracteristics of those bulbs (mainly color of the light compare to the regular high beam) and reference to get it ?
