The driver side rearview mirror has heated glass but the passenger side does not on my 95 530ia. I want to remove the mirror in order to check the wires and the heating element as to why there is no heat. I've checked all the fuses (#4, #5 and #14) all are good.

Bentley manual has instruction on how to remove the mirror from the rearview mirror housing by inserting a screwdriver into an opening located on the bottom side of the housing and pivot the screwdriver to release the mirror. However, I can't see or locate this opening on the bottom side of the housing. Do the black trim on the housing need to be removed to reveal the opening?

Anyone has experience removing the mirror from the housing and can offer any tips?

Thanks in advance.
