"Roundel", 12/8, p114, Mike, reports rash of failures. BMW, Service Information Bulletin 13 03 06 blames ethanol. Dealer service writer wouldn't talk or ddidn't know s..., which is more likely.

What is expected effect on service life? Will spare in trunk and tools/experience with swap be required? Aftermarket pumps any better? How adapt aftermarket pump anyway.

Am running Walbro 255 in '85 535. Straight fwd adaption but instructions, hacksaw, and wire required. Had trouble with FPR after installation, FPR failed, aftermkt FPR from normally reliable source had wrong oring.

I use FP gauge setup that rigs to windshield for testing underway. Worked well in diagnosing e34 FP with repeated failure after 6 t0 10 miles but self healed on cool down.
