Hey.. There was some rust bubbling out of the paint. I dremeled it away but now I have this black thing? Is it paste? I don't see much rust.

Can I just prime it and paint it back in black or should I do something more?

The whole picture

Looks like you have grinded through the metall, and the black stuff is the body sealant the factory used inside the wheelarches.

tim eh?

i did the same thing on a spot on the hood... 2-ply steel i was so impressed i bet you don't see much of that on new cars. not sure if i did the right thing but i put some rust treatment then i used marine fiberglass to patch the hole, then i used spot putty and sanded.

ok so the water would come in by the inside (last pic) and spread through that black paste and rusted away the metal sheet, bubbling the paint.

thx

Clean that up best you can then treat it with some rust inhibitor. Maybe after spreaying it in there you can bend the 2 together with pliers or something before it dries.
