Hello

I have found the shogun post http://www.bimmerboard.com/forums/posts/422325

excellent.

I'm collecting information to help me rebuilt my auto tranny in the future. They in the book say it is not possible for the DIY. but i have found
http://www.drivetrain.com/bmw_dt.htm selling kits and a technical manual which I will buy. With a tech book I feel it might be possible.

anyways I wanted some feedback on the task ahead on my E30 325.

Symptoms to solve

1)The car shakes when in Park and stops shaking when in Neutral

2)There is a strong bong and the car hesitates when tranny downshift from 2 to 1.

3) creaky noise when putting the R shift and sometimes Drive.

4)is there a big difference between 22 and 24?

Compare prices, buy the repair manual, you definitely need it.
And best is also to buy a reman torque converter. Here some pics we made

Here are for example prices, but there are many other offers out in the market

3rd quarter of 94 issue, it has some info on 4hp22 transmissions, there's actually quite a bit of info out about them now if you hunt around

thx man... lol I like it

information you need to work on one of
the world’s Most Quirky transmissions
... the ZF 4HP22. This is the baby that
quits moving forward after an emission
test, which makes BMW owners froth
at the mouth.

getting
information on the ZF trans is a pain in
the asterisk.

Whatever you do, don't show this
information and photos to the folks at
ZF of North America. Management
there thinks that independents like you
must be treated the same way farmers
grow mushrooms...kept in the dark and
covered with manure.

god

Those ZF guys must have been frightened once by
a bell housing that fell off. They've put enough bolts
on this hummer for three transmissions.

it is written they would explain the difference between HP22 and HP24 later. I will look in the other pdfs.

thx for the linK! great
