I prefer driving manual, but now you're making me want to do a trans swap... ;)

Very cool.

Do you have something for interior lights ? At night, I always need more time after engine cutoff to get out of the cabin : I have to remove my radio faceplate and iPod whenever I bring it along, then put in my safety code. It takes me almost two minutes before I open my door.

I have a light dimmer, sold almost 100 units mainly to members of the German 7-forum and the E34 board there, some to Canada and USA. Fits on E34, E32, E31.
installation instructions from the German forum

with 2 internal switches for:

Einstellmöglichkeiten des Dimmers:

Auf der Platine sehr ihr einen DIL-Schalter, hiermit lassen sich die Verzögerungen und der Lampentyp einstellen, sogar LED-Umbauten lassen sich damit dimmen!

Schalter 1

AUS = LED
EIN = Glühlampen (Serienlampen)

Schalter 2: Einschaltverzögerung

AUS = 0,5 sec.
EIN = 2,0 sec.

Schalter 3 Schalter 4 Ausschaltverzögerung

AUS AUS 2 sec.
AUS EIN 4 sec.
EIN AUS 6 sec.
EIN EIN 8 sec.

For some reason I cannot view the videos but whats the purpose of this setup?

shogun
12-09-2008, 08:38 PM
Looks the video is dead. The purpose of that module is to slowly start the light dimmer and then getting brighter and brigther till full power is reached, and the dsame way from bright to low.
The same light it is nowadays on modern cars.

and some switches for delay in switching off the lights in the interior, such as

switch 3 ON 3 Switch 4 delay timer

OFF OFF 2 sec.
OFF ON 4 sec.
ON OFF 6 sec.
ON ON 8 sec.

Actually not necessary to drive the car, but many people asked us to make such a unit, so we made it :)

Like the interior light with an LED block with cooling ribs :D

Oh thats neat. My E34 already has the illumination but it doesn't do fancy stuff. Does this unit do all the interior lights like that?

all in here mentioned

But you have to line up on the waiting list. At the moment we have to produce another abt. 30 sets for members of the German 7 and E34 forums. And that is for Germany only, not counting other countries.
Probably by end of next week we will be able to catch up. Demand is higher than expected.

30 sets just finished with production. Majority goes to Germany, if someone wants to have a set, PM me with the info 4 or 5 speed, all other details in above link.

Only a few left over, next batch will be produced from mid 01/2009, as we ran out of parts and have to order new.
Videos now on youtube

What is the price for the dimmer kit ?? E34.
Cheers,Vinny:)

shogun

As we produce them here in Japan and have to buy the parts in Japanese Yen, Yen 7.600 per set shipped by airmail to any country.
Non registered airmail. If you want to have registered/trackable shipping: plus 1000 Yen = approx.US$ 11.12 as of today.
For reference only: oanda.com
Friday, February 6, 2009
7,600 Japanese Yen = 84.53 US

Before I sold them in US$ or EURO, but the recent crazy exchange rate changes are difficult to fix. So the price from now on will be in Yen.
Send me an PM and I will give you the Paypal details. In case shipping should be trackable, I also need the phone number in addition to the complete address and name, as this is required for the shipping documents.

Note for the dimmer function: you can set it to various times. (German and English info)

Einstellmöglichkeiten des Dimmers:
adjustment possibilities of the dimmer:

Auf der Platine sehr ihr einen DIL-Schalter, hiermit lassen sich die Verzögerungen und der Lampentyp einstellen, sogar LED-Umbauten lassen sich damit dimmen!
on the board you see a DIL-switch, with this you can set delay time and bulb type (LED or normal bulbs), even LED conversions can be controlled by this.

Schalter/switch 1

AUS/OFF = LED
EIN/ON = Glühlampen (Serienlampen) standard bulbs (series)

Schalter/switch 2: Einschaltverzögerung/delay time

AUS/OFF = 0,5 sec.
EIN/ON = 2,0 sec.

Schalter/switch 3 Schalter/switch 4 Ausschaltverzögerung/delay switch off

AUS/OFF AUS/OFF 2 sec.
AUS/OFF EIN/ON 4 sec.
EIN/ON AUS/OFF 6 sec.
EIN/ON EIN/ON 8 sec.
For the ones who prefer to solder it instead of using a clamp

Note: in case of low car battery voltage it might be that the program of the installed 'program chip' freezes, so that light does not come on at all or always lights. In such case remove the fuse(s) for interior light after your battery has been recharged or your voltage regulator/alternator has been repaired, then wait about 10 minutes, insert fuses again in the fuse box, the unit will work again.
There were abt. 3 cases on the German E34 forum within the last year or so, all thought the module broke, but all work again after this procedure. One even sent one back to me for testing, we tested it with variable voltages and it works perfect. So I sent it back to him last week and he installed it, works fine.

Subject: illuminated gear shifter

Finally got around to installing this little gem, the instructions were a great help and it works beautifully. Thanks for your time and efforts in creating this and the many other mods you have posted, your efforts are most appreciated.

I installed mine about a month (maybe 2 - sorry Shogun :( ) or so ago - I love it!

Due to some electrical issues (false trans program report) completely unrelated to this unit, my gear shift is not repeated on the cluster for more than 60 seconds. So I really like having the LED illumination that this unit provides compared to the stocker which was virtually impossible to see at night. It looks like something BMW would do and just fits the car suitably.

There is no way I could even buy the parts for what this wonderful man is selling the kit for! It shipped fast, arrived safely and was easy to install. I spent more time finding a power source than installing it.

Scott

PS - new driveshaft, guibo, dogbones, tranny and motor mounts - I am worn out!

Thanks for the feedback and I am glad that you are happy with the units.

@ss2115
1 unit just produced and will be on the way to Australia within today.
With the strobo effect as requested.

ACC = accessory position of ignition switch = you can use any circuit line or illumination line from OBC, Radio, ashtray and S/E/M switch. But if you want to use power from S/E/M switch, be careful, they have two different illumination lines. One for normal use and another one for safety line, safety line means keeps over 20 minutes power after key off. Please don't use safety line, this is low voltage like 10.5V (normal line is keeping 13-14V).

Hi Shogun.

I received the kit very quickly - thank you.
Very impressed with the quality. Nicely packaged, very proffessional finish to the components and first class instructions with colour photo's.

I had it installed in about 1.5 hours. It was quite easy. Any slightly handy person could easily do it.

And it worked first time as well. No faults to track down, nothing to adjust or align.
The fit was excellent.

I am especially pleased with the dim circuit - lights on and your new panel dims all the drive letters except the one selected.
And then when the dash lights are adjusted below a threshold, all the extra lights go out except for the one and only selected gear.
Its very clever.

Well done on a great kit.

whow, now I got the first inquiry from Taiwan.

Dear xxxx:
I'm a E34 owner from Taiwan.
I was refered by .... because I'm so interestd in the light module you designed as the following URL:
http://dd.jpn.org/BMW_HP/20090611/index.shtml

Please tell me how to pay you and I prefer airmail.

Also, if possible, can you find e38 750 front brake system as well?

Regards,
Michael

The E34 community in Taiwan is very large, last meeting I belive there were about 100 participants.
