Alright, going to be up front with you all, i am no mby ANY means. I am wondering what to do about a broken fog light. It is not suppoesd to rain where i live for a couple of days, the only thing i have worries about is water getting into the light?

I noticed today that my drivers side fog is on but the lense has a hole in it. What would be the cheapest way to deal with this?? new lense or whole light?? also if water gets in is there any place for it to exit the light or will i have a nice pound in the light??

thanks guys,

you guys are the best!

Cheapest way would be clear tape.

On some e34s you can't replace just the lens and have to replace the whole unit.

another cheap way is to buy a used one in ebay or the yard

I did the clear tape thing, great for a temporary fix. For a more permanent repair I used a cheap hot glue gun. One day after the depression maybe I can pick up a set of non-sandblasted headlights.

Nice choices there:
$35 plus $30 shipping
or
$20 plus $50 shipping.

And if you don't like them, there's always that return shipping to Hong Kong.

Don't know what year your car is but from '94-up a new OE lens/housing is only about $50 from your local BMW dealer, here in the U.S. of A.

eBay replacement. How long will you keep the car for? Think about it, and choose your path...

Do you have non standard bulbs inside?
I once had a similar problem with original Hella smilies. Installed instead of H1 12 V 55W 12V 100W Rally bulbs, even the reflector had bubbles, and the thin wires behind the headlights were only bare wires respect. what was left of them. Never again ....

Like I said, had these on the fog lights for over 6 years now and using oem replacement Silver Stars 9005. No problems what so ever, the plastic lens are still clear, no yellowing and best of all no more broken lens.
