My mother owns a 2001 740iL, the car is superb minus a few details. One of the more serious ones is regarding the driveline.

When driving very easily, cruising so to speak, the car has a slight stumble at about 1500 rpms when it is trying to shift. I originally thought it to be the guibo or CSB, but the driveshaft is rock-solid. If you floor the car and rip through the gears it shifts absolutely perfect. It is only when you are very lightly on the throttle and 99% of the time it is right around 1500 rpms.

I almost want to say it seems like transmission software issue, as in the past I downshifted it while going down a hill, and for the rest of the trip it seemed like it was stuck in sports mode or something, regardless if I put it back into drive.

I need your guys help here, my mother has a gorgeous car and she wants to get rid of the thing because of this problem for a shitty and terribly ugly newer model!

Here's a couple pictures of the car, PLEASE HELP! I can't watch this one go away!

Nice car!
But E38 is not my speciality. Search this board, they are the specialists for E38

on the right there is also a very good archive under related links.
