View Full Version : Reinstalling rear lock actuator

After replacing the rear passenger lock actuator, I've reinstalled the whole lock mechanism. Before replacing the door panel, I decided to test all the connections by hand. The power window controls work fine. Pulling the rod that is tied to the locking pin causes the door to lock correctly. I can open the door from the outside handle when unlocked.

But pulling the rod that is connected to the inside door handle does nothing! It's as if the door is locked, all the time, from the inside, even when I know it is unlocked.

Has anyone run across such an issue when replacing the actuator? Could this be something simple like a sync problem?

Thanks!

Norman

I am such an idiot... the child-lock was engaged! I didn't even realize the E34 had child locks. Now I know!

Thanks all,

Norman

haha - i nearly changed a lock actuator because one lock wasn't locking properly but i realized it was because i'd bent the rod to the lockpin and it was sticking in the door panel.
