I am in the process of doing my exhaust system on my car and I looking for some info/comments/opinions.

Has anyone taken off/removed the Center Muffler?

What are the pro's and con's?

Thanks

I don't have a cat OR the catalyst warning. Never heard of such a thing.

i replaced the center resonator with an ansa part last year.

can't compare the noise... the problem was in the rear muffler but i replaced everything from the cat back. it's quiet tho.

didn't do it myself but it would appear it's not a perfect fit... the rubber hangers fell apart 4 months later and with a new pair on it sits too close to the floor and vibrates against the underside when i floor it.

The resonator is a specialised part. Retrofitting is risky. Removal is very noisy. My experince in attempting this stupidity leads me to say leave it as is, (which is pretty damned good anyhow)..

How does it know the catalyst is missing? I don't recall any sort of electrical connections to the cat or exhaust except for the O2 sensor, and even if the ECU somehow detected the missing cat I didn't think that would send any messages to the OBC.
