homemade solution to make aluminium shine

Hey,

How do make aluminium stuff look as new? DIY way. If not DIY, is there a cost effective way in a machine shop or industrial shop?

I'm training an old engine part.

Try toothpaste, its a mild abrasive and should work. Also if you have any fine grit sandpaper you can try wet sanding it.
