Whats happened to the 7 series?! I can't believe how cheap they are, i know big cars depreciate badly but they should level out after a few years!

This one is £11k, unbelievable

Watch out for the £450+ a year in road tax :)

If you can stomach that, the 7 in the UK represents a lot of car for the money - there's bargain older 7's out there too - plenty of older 750i cylenderfests going for under £1k

It's because a lot of those cars are maintenance nightmares...

I agree, I woun't touch a new 7, but I would love to get my hands on a E38 740i sport... ohhh yeah!
The E32 aren't worth anything nowdays, the E34 also lost all their values, the Tourings are coming back in style with the increase of gas prices and the lost of interest in big SUVs.

Only hardcore guys will keep and maintain one like the E12 or E28 lovers.
Now people are switching to E39s.

Me, I keep buying older and older cars like my '85 635csi and I am looking for a 3.0csl to create a batmobile down the road.

The car in that second link looks awesome, I could really go for that if I had the cash now. One of the few cars I would trade my e34 for, it's not quite as aggressive looking but more luxurious inside. It must have been produced before the cut-off in 2001 for the higher tax costs too so it should be the same as mine is now... It's so tempting!

I don't particularly like the newest 7 series but its a lot of car for 10k, the e38 on the other hand is superb, it still has the 80's aggression with more modern sophistication, its very tempting at that price but once you get past the newer shape and the superb interior the mechanicals are much the same as an e34 I guess which means much the same problems as the e34 only slightly worse due to the added complexity!

+1

Started looking for the right 740i Sport after looking for 2 years for the right M-Sport and having no luck.

Turned out I couldn't find the right 740i Sport anywhere near me (black, anthracite, or imola. Black leather. Winter package & sport seats). Looked for 6 months for one and never found one near me that fit the criteria. Then I found my M-Sport and bought that.

When the M-Sport is paid off then I'll probably pick up an '01 740i Sport to go along with my M-Sport...:D

I'd take an e38, maybe... but it'd take something drastic happening to the touring. The e34 m50/5 is still a reliability + ease of repair dream, with ample room and good handling and decent luxury.

E38 is one of the most awesome BMWs made (except for the E34 of course!), it's like a big brother of the E34, with similar styling but upgraded everything.

I guess it's the maintenance, fuel costs, insurance and tax that you UKers pay that's the reason why they go for so cheap. I subscribe to TotalBMW and read their articles about the E38 and can only dream -- they're still at least $30k upwards to around 55k here in Australia (of course you get the odd 20-mid 20k, but they always look suss).

Yup, the 750 is a real b!tch to work on....just try to change the starter.

But 7s are nice...dark colors rolling on 18 M pars looks real gangsta.

I'd go with a e32 735, all show...but cheaper on the go
