Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
A few decades ago we were all having a good laugh at the expense of the Japanese and their overdecorated little copies of Deroit iron, then Korean cars which have come a long way.
I wouldn't underestimate Chinese industry, especially since organized labor has sent so much of our own manufacturing scurrying over there. The stuff they build that is crap is because they are asked to build crap to be sold cheap.
