i have a 1991 525i..i am going to install a idle control value this weekend. i need to procedure to do this job!!

You'll need to remove the airbox, intake boot and various hoses.

Now comes the fun part.

You gotta reach under the manifold and remove the old one.

You can just see what you are doing through the holes between the intake runners.

Be gentle with the hose and nipple on the manifold.

Before doing anything, check all the connections on the inside of the underside of the intake. Follow the hoses to them- there are three. Big one in the middle, one at the firewall end feeding the FPR, and one at the front. The o rings on these tend to go, the clips holding them in break... causing leaks which make you think something else (ie the ICV) are faulty... chk these, your connecting hoses for pinholes and cracks... and all the easier to check bits also...
