Mine appear to be leather as there is real stitching. The 95 preminum package included more leather -I think. Do not believe earliest models had stitching/leather, especially the 525i

My 92 525ia has leather interior, but the door handles and the panels are vinyl. My 95 530 has the preminum package and the handle and panels are leather as well as the wood trims.

It is real stitching on the handles. Do the vinyl ones have fake stitching?

You are correct. I looked at my cars, and the '95 has leather handles, the '94 & '89 do not.

The leather handles have real stitching. The vinyl handles have no stitching at all.

My 1990 535i has stitched leather door handles/armrests and vinyl panels.

Weird so im guessing we got a gift from the manufacture, its real stitching all the way, time to leatherique it.
