Why, did BMW not get it right?

Which modder working where knows better than a Bavarian motor engineer?

FYI:

CAIs suck in minute particles of grit that screw up your engine. BMW's stock filter is enormous in comparison to lesser cars, and after 20 years of service, the walls of every BMW engine attest to its effectiveness. But there are plenty of horror stories around of what a CAI does...

Looking for some good ol'fashioned Cougar style RAM flow action? There is a kit u can get - see BigKriss' car- its got a distinctive squint happening. He has mesh to stop the major parts of impaled bugs- and those pesky rats nesting in your intake. Not sure if this is a mod with any value... looks cool tho!

Perfect place for a mini machine gun to be secretly mounted. Would fill the filter with phospher tho, you'd need to hold off using it a bit...

It should work if you direct the intake hole to the stock airbox, but you gotta keep large particles from blocking the airflow through the stock filter, and water could possibly pose a problem.

as others have mentioned the stock air box does not impede air flow and the air it ets from the grill is as cool it gets

True there. You won't get any extra air or pressure from the outside with another hole in the bumper. Air is air unless its forcefully inducted.

yep it is already high pressure air. no gain no benefit.

that is from the v8s, and is the duct for cooling the alternator
