E34 Inspection area is yellow/red

The car shows next to the inspection a yellow and a red dot. What exactly does that mean? I checked the oil and it is still in good condition

It means that you need to do an inspection of the car. Check your fluids and change as needed and then reset the light. Just because the oil looks good doesn't mean it can still lube up your engine as good as it x amount of miles ago.
