I have read about the shimmy in the archives, where are the instructions to fix it? I can't seem to find them on here.

About my problem...
I feel a very bad shake between 40-60. There is a small shake that stays on from 20-40 and from 60-100 that you can feel too. Does you think that is with the shimmy? I know my rear hydro suspension went bad but I don't know if those have an affect for the front shake.

SHIMMY @ 80mph – likely culprits
Check the following in this order:
1) Wheel alignment by a recommended mechanic (dynamic balancing)
2) Check your brake pads!
3) Check thrust arm bushings. (Some call them upper control arms). Bushing can go after several thousand km’s
4) Replace/check tie-rod center, and Left & Right tie-rods
5) Check Struts / Shock absorbers while your there.
6) Sometimes (rarely) disks are warped – replace them (machining is just as expensive if not more).

Thrust arm in my case. I had the shimmy between 50 and 55 so I'm replacing both arms with Lemforder parts.

If thurst arm is the case, where is the best place to purchase them and are there any instructions on the e34 site on how to replace them?

That includes changing to the Meyle HD bushes. I also have the complete Meyle HD bush thrust arms installed since 1 year, solved the whole shimmy problem.

a very good alignment and balance and if reqiuired new tyres can also fix it.Bad tyres can cause the whole problem, but control arm bushing faiure is the main culprit
