Anyone know of a cheap way to get one?
Which models should I look at?
What engine, what model, what year etc. etc.
Any and all comments welcome!

Just so I understand, Are you looking for an old BMW with carbies? If so and you want to stay with the 5 series, why don't you look at the E12 528. It has 2 solexes. Years made from about 1975-1978. Most old BMWs with carbies will have rotted away by now as rust protection was minimal in those days (take it from an ex-E12 owner!!!). Others include the lovely looking but rust prone E9 3.0 CS, the (again rusty) 3.0S and 3.3L (long wheel base sedan). Another one is the venerable 2002. I've got original sales brochures for the 3.0 CS and 3.0 sedans if you want them scanned. I WOULD NOT go for carbies if I was you. Bosch injection is reliable and far more efficient than any of the carbies offered by BMW.
