did you get the error straight away or was it after a stop?I found out the hard way too. When you install the brake light switch it finds its own position.DO NOT PUSH THE RED SLEEVE(outer) HOME,leave it out as far as you can

Been chasing down the ol' Brake Lt circuit warning on the LCD.

did all the obvious, checked all the bulbs, replaced the brake light switch twice with a new Febi part.

Should I go buy the OE BMW switch, or is there something else to check?

Gale says:

Other causes of "Brake Light Circuit" error can be brass or other non-BMW brake light bulbs. I recommend using the OEM (Osram) nickel bulbs.

Thanks,

Yes, I replaced all three brake lights with Osrams, the switch twice with Febis

Swapped the LKM and the CCM for good luck.

How's the wire loom at the trunk hinge? Any broken or shorted wires there?

Aftermarket brake light switches are not good quality switches. Tried on, got intermittent error light - changed to OEM, problem solved.

2 reasons why I got the Brake Light Circuit error.

1: I put a switch between the circuit that I can turn on/off....very useful for outrunning cops at night.

2: Trunk Harness chewed straight through the wires, both of them.
