Hi, ive just purchased a 91 535i e34 right hand drive and underneath the windscreen there is a plastic mesh trim where the wipers sit.underneath this there are 2 round plugs that are clipped to the body of the car (a black plug and a white plug). To get my hand down to the plug i had to remove the 4 phillips screws holding a plastic cover down over the computers on the right hand side near the firewall. My white plug that had 2 blue wires and 2 redish brown wires (if i remember correctly) was unplugged. I have no idea what this plug does??Does anyone have any answers?

I think those plugs are for the car alarm loud speaker, if fitted from factory/dealer.

Do us a favour and add to your profile or siganture the model, engine (M30B35), Automatik yes/no, iA = Automatic, and month and year of production, as well as the country specification.
All this you will help us to help you better and to look into the wiring diagrams.

Get your VIN ready and click my website below, scroll down to VIN decoder and you have all the details there.

Then here some more links you should bookmark

As you mentioned RHD: is that a U.K.version?

thank you both for your quick replys. i only found this website tonight (ive only had the 535i for about 2 weeks) and im already very impressed with the help and support. One more quick question(not sure what group or thread its ment to be under) but i am doing the headgasket on it in the next week or so. Does anyone have any links to help me with the process, hopefully with pics step by step? Also the torque specs say i should tighten to 60nm, wait 20minutes, then tighten to 80nm, then run the car until it is warm and take the rocker cover back off and tighten it an additional 35degrees. Is this the only way to do it?or is the last 35degrees un-necessary?

hi i know there may be many unused plugs, but the other side of the plug was sitting about 2inches from it, so im thinking maybe it has been unplugged at some stage?there are 2 plugs that look the same, but one is black and one is white. does yours have these similar plugs?

do they look like these?

Then it is the wiper pressure motor which is probably defective and therefore the pre-owner disconnected it

Then disconnect the plug again. There must be a reason that he disconnected it. Most probably the system is defective and draws the battery empty when car is parked, typical fault.
Or leave them connected and pull out the relais under rear seat with ADM printed on it, a big black relay. ADM = Anpress Druck Motor.

I repeat what I said yesterday:

thanks shogun i have unplugged it and will leave it alone and pretend i never saw it;)
about the information you require me to put onto my profile, i dont know what to do. All i know is that the car is a 1991 535i e34 with vin WBAHD22050BF53604.
About the fan speeds 1-2 not working, can i fix this myself or does a new part need to be purchased?

Cheers, do you have any idea what my model will have (the sword or the other type) when i purchased the car the glovebox was already unclipped and hanging down and i spent about 1/2hr trying to line it up perfectly to get an even gap and to have the lock grab nicely. I dont want to pull that out again to find its not there. The other one i am confused about. The way it talks it says its on the left side of the centre console near the accelerator pedal(for a left hand drive car)..i have the right hand version, will it still be on the left side or will it be on the right side near the brake pedal?

Blower series resistance (model manufactured after week 2 of 1990)
That is said on Bruno's website, but that is based on the U.S. model.

Use your VIN BF53604
paste the VIN here
http://bmwfans.info/original/
and go to airconditioning/heating, there you find what really is installed in your car.

Sword should be on the right side (driver side RHD), as on the E32 also the microfilter and sword are there, E34 and E32 have a lot of parts in common.
