Wow. Just wow. This is one quick son of a bitch. On the freeway, drop her into 4th to pass at 4000rpm and she rips.

Yesterday she was learning how to drive stick. Today, I get the car because erm... I have to get it tinted :) It's the only chance I'll get to drive it before it's adorned with girly stuff.

I don't know what to say... except I'd get one, if it I couldnt buy two e39 M5s (almost) for that money! :(

She was super surprised, to say the least.

135 or 125?! The 135i is crazy!!! why wait till 4000 (o you were on the highway)? the torque flat lines at 1500rmp and then tapers off around 4500-5000 I think

135. Yeah, it's crazy.

Why 4000? Old habit. The 135 makes peak torque like 1300rpm. The 540 peaks at 3500 or so, so I hadn't adjusted.

On that note, I can actually rip the car and pass in 5th (drop from 6th). Man.

So. 300KM later. The car is nuts over 3700RPM in second or third. The torque makes it tail happy. Traction light flickers like christmas tree. Of course, it could be the release agents on the tires not worn off yet.

Car is fast but scary. 160 in the e39 is stable, quiet, safe. In this car, it feels like I'm on crack.

Gimme a 'sedate' e39 M5 :)

135i is insane fun to drive, I got to drive a couple about 2 weeks before release and the looks we had on the road were great, especially when you drop it to second and blast off into the distance. Serious weapon.

oh, so now it's a modded car against a stock car? in that case, my friend has a 60's mini cooper that would eat the 135 alive ;)

apples to oranges, dude.

it isn't the release agent, I lit up the tires in an Auto 335i for 50 yards without really trying on one of the BMW Ultimate Drive cars.
Flashing one isn't really considered a mod... btw. :D

no, not just in handling. it's running a hayabusa motor, it's a rwd conversion, and running a stock tune it will keep up with modded cobras....500 hp cobras.

You're missing my point. My point in the M5 being mild is that it's a much better handling monster than the high strung 135.

It's funny when I was looking for a new car I wanted an old Mini Cooper or an E34... Even I don't understand my logic.

Hopped back in the 540 today (she's 'girlifying her car), feels like it's on rails. Sure, the 19's make her feel sluggish off the line, but rock stable. The 135 feels on crack at higher speeds.

Congrats! Sounds like a fun car! :D Makes me wonder how many young guys without experience and the restraint/discipline are going to kill themselves in these things….:(

Is the wife going to exploit its potential?

From the number of E mails I`ve had about rear tyre wear on 1`s and 3`s,you better keep a close eye on the tyres. And if you want exitement/fear forget `busa mini`s, try my old Susy/Smart,adrenaline IS brown!

Drove her car today. Hard. It's stupidly fast. Rips like hell. Did I mention it's stupidly fast?

My 128 cab is coming on Monday. Am I going to regret doing it... even just as a summer car? :)

the 335i is also pretty quick....but I opted for their E34 flavored granddaddy which is plenty fast enough for me...:)
