I am having problems with my alarm / central locking. My car has been fitted with a system 2T alarm and somehow it has become out of sink with the remote key fob - thus every time I open the door with the key the alarm activates and the keyfob won't communicate with the car.

I intially thought that the keyfob had run out of battery but there is plenty of charge on it.

I think the alarm was an after thought - it has been fitted by BMW - quite a nice job - all wiring underneath the back seat in a sealed metal box. The alarm has it own power source but it has not been fitted so that it immobilizes the car.

Does anyone know how to rectify this? The BMW specialist won't go near it - stating that the only thing they would do was rip it out!

The car is a 520i E34 M50 with 70,000 miles on clock. I am the third owner

you could try turning the key to position 2 and getting out the car with the fob and walking about 5ft away then turning back slowly walking to the car with both buttons being pressed down and see what that does.

Is this a BMW oem factory alarm or an aftermarket dealer installed alarm. If so what is the brand?

The alarm has 'BMW 2T SIREN' written on it however I don't think it is oem. I believe the BMW dealership has fitted it after the car was bought.

I have had to resort to deactivating the alarm - thanks for your suggestions.
