As part of my intake reseal / top end cleaning, I have taken my injectors off of the rail for cleaning. In the process I have learned a new term "pintle cap". It is the plastic piece at the tip of the injectors. Shown in the picture it is the orange piece.

When I was pulling the injectors from the intake manifold one of the caps broke off. Apparently these things are very brittle. No problem right, should be able to get a replacement... not exactly. After some serious digging, I did find something that may work, although it is not an exact replacement.

There was also a kit on ebay that looked similar for way less. I think it was 16 bucks for all of the grommets spacers and pintle caps for a V8. Im thinking I will give this a try rather than leaving my injector naked or buying a whole new one.

Just some information I thought would be useful. If anyone has experience with these parts please post.

Mr. Injector sells them on Ebay. In sets or in bulk of 100 pieces, even the injector filters.

This is interesting, I have totally different injectors to you on my 540... they have no pintle caps on them, just a huge single o-ring on the tips. The power connectors are green and black on them - whereas yours are red.

An almost identical 540 that one of my mates owns has the same as you've got on... weird.

some v8s had the big hole injectors and some had the regular bosch looking ones, i think the big hole ones were lucas and i've seen them on some later m30s too

this site might be interesting, all makers and flowrates

in many BMW are the Bosch 0 280 150
for example the E32 750 has 0 280 150 715
the M30 engine end no. 714

So this set would fit

Had the same problem. Called a firm that overhauls injectors and just asked outright if they would sell me some caps. There are two sizes for the injectors I have - one with a big hole and one with a little hole:D I didnt know which so they sent 6 of each. Came to about £12 including postage. IIRC the two seals on the injectors are the same size. I had already got some from the dealer. Cant remember exactly how much they were but they were cheap:)
