here are some pics, procedure to follow -what do you guys think?

(apart from it needing a vacuum)

first you need a hole and a base for the changer...

That looks very nice! I was thinking that a sub would go nicely under the passenger seat... just out of curiosity...
Why did you choose to put it in there instead of the trunk? I can't put one there either way b/c your current location is where my battery is.

then you need some trim... i made my own clamps - surely there is a better way...

i originally had it there... i need the trunk space - i bought the car b/c it fits a cello hardcase (if you slide it in right) + violins and the changer would get in the way and get bashed. it's nice to have a big empty clean trunk, and now i can reach the changer from the driver's seat. my battery is in the engine bay with the itty bitty m20

i can see what you mean about the trunk space! my speakers are in the deck lid and it pisses me off how much they get into the way. The m20 is a great engine imo. I like my m50 better though :p

glad to hear it... never driven another bmw, but my instincts tell me this chassis was built for bigger engines.
i'm a total engine-rookie tho, and i think it's better to make mistakes on one like this. i'm happy with it, when it's working...

Holy creativity Batman !

Great job ! Indeed, having a changer in the trunk is not the best. I remember that someone had put it in the armrest of the backseat.

thanks - i looked at Dave M's thread quite a few times - i even strapped my changer into that space (with the armrest out) for a while to see if it would work but results were iffy with my changer after being in the 'arm up' position for a while. either way, nice to have the ski-sack back!

Nice job! I was thinking... it would be alot easier just to stick the CD changer in the glove compartment... unless you need that space for all your music sheets!

nice - wish mine fit like that... under the front seats was no good either.

those JVC 12s are huge... If you went down to a 6... it probably would have.

With clarion (smallest changers out in the last 10 years) it fits with space to spare after flipping one mounting bracket inward, and if you needed 12 discs you could jsut run a second changer mounted elsewhere. I flipped the bracket to push the changer over to one side so I'd have room next to it for power adapter storage. A larger changer would probably involve "thru the box" mounting.

FOr me though a single 6 works because I can reach over and swap cartridges when sitting at a light easily, and I keep a spare loaded and ready in the glove box.
