I know, I should be going to the M5 board asking about this, but I started here with my E34, and I've got loyalty issues :D
So to anyone here with an E39 as well, this question's for you...
My 3rd brake light lens looks a little melted, it sags in the middle. The bulb is out, as far as I can tell from reading the predatored dropped pixel display. I get in the trunk, and look up at the decklid bottom, and see the trap door. Open it, see the light socket. I can turn it maybe 10 degrees at best but that darn bulb just won't pop out.
Is there some kind of trick to getting them out or did my fitting melt and does it sound like I'm just going to have to yank till the glass breaks to free the socket? :(
*Edit* Got it out ... housing was a little melted as I suspected. Now I've got to find a replacement red lens.
