How wrench sway bar link at strut? '89 525. How the heck to get wrenchs on the nut inside the bracket on the strut and the link. Have 17mm socket and small head 3/8 ratchet and 16mm open for the flat on the strut.

Seems that link side must be held in place and nut on strut side turned. How now brown cow?

you need to use a box wrench - hold the nut on one side still and remove the bolt with the box wrench.

i was able to get one side off, but the other was really stuck and had to cut it off / use air tools

i torched mine off then unscrewed the ball end with vicegrips while holding the nutty side with a wrench at an angle.

Often the links ends are worn to the point where it can be broken off the stud and a vise grip pliers used to hold it from turning.

That's easy, you need offset box wrench to do this job.
