Oh and I own this as well:

1977 Mercedes-Benz 350SE V8 Auto

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k178/barnoaucamp/MERC013.jpg

I have a 76 450 SE sitting due to firewall corrosion. Transplanted a grey market Euro 4.5 V8 into it just before the suspension gave way at the firewall. Very frustrating.

hmm, what have I owned - in order:

1980 Malibu
1985 F150
1986 F150
1987 Celebrity
1984 LTD Wagon with 1993 Mustang 5.0
1966 Lincoln Continental
1967 Lincoln Continental
1976 Mercedes 450 SE
1993 Crown Victoria
1994 Lincoln Mark VIII
1987 Volvo 244
1986 Buick Regal - owned it for less than 24 hours before I sold it
1991 525i - current car

13 cars in 12 years of driving. Man.

My first car in 2003 was this:

1996 VW Citi Golf (Golf Mark I) 1.3 Carb. Price: R29 000 (US$ 3866)

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k178/barnoaucamp/Chico.jpg

2005, more of the same!

1999 VW Citi Golf 1.3 Carb with updated interior. Price: R35 000 (US$ 4666)

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k178/barnoaucamp/Chicowit.jpg

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k178/barnoaucamp/Honda002NP.jpg

In 2007...

1981 Mercedes-Benz 200. Loaded with a/c, p/s, cruise control, central locking, the works. Bought with 119 000km (74 000miles) on the clock. Absolutely pristine, showroom condition. Price: R22 000 (US$ 2900). Loved this car to bits and I miss it very much.

2008:

1992 BMW 525i manual with 190 000km (118 000miles). Price: R35 000 (US $ 4666)

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k178/barnoaucamp/BMW/BMW021800x600.jpg

Interesting that the BMW only cost R 6000 (US $800) more than the crappy POS Citi Golf did!

And yes, the Golf Mark I is still being produced in SA!!

They look like this now:

Triumph Herald ( back wheels go \ / on corners:) )
Cortina 1600E (everbody wanted aubergene for some reason)
Cortina 2000GXL (see the Sweeney but not the Granada NHK 295M. Yes sad!)
Mini Cooper S (nuff said)
Cavalier SRi (got stolen too often)
Cavalier SRi (as above but company was buying)
Mondeo 2.6 Ghia (would have like the ST24)

1982 Austin Princess 1.7hls (hand me down from old man)
1984 Nissan Praire 1.5 - (2nd hand me down from old man- preferred the princess!)
1986 Vauxhall Nova 1.2 (first car with my own money - loved it!)
1987 Ford Escort 1.4L (Held together with rust, **** car, blew engine doing 110 downhill on the M1)
1986 Ford Fiesta (didn't learn my lesson from the Escort, **** drive but utterly reliable rust bucket, taught me a lot about DIY maintenance)
1993 Ford Sierra 1.6 (No PAS, still didn't learn my lesson from the Escort, again **** to drive but utterly reliable, rear wheel drive fun in the wet).
1983 VW Golf Mk1 3 Door (came along so I bought it, retro classic).
1995 Rover 214SEI (nice car when it worked and you didn't worry too much about the build quality).
1993 Honda Prelude 2.2i (lovely car, cornered like it was on rails apart from the time I spun it on a roundabout).
1988 Mercedes 190e (in light Ivory with dodgy bodykit, looked like a failed pimps car, but bought on 176k for £600, sold on 200k for £400, never broke down once, can't say fairer than that).
1997 Mercedes CLK 200 (very nice but very dull).
1989 BMW 535i Sport Manual (superb).
1996 BMW 540i Touring Auto Individual (had a hard life, sold soon after buying).
1996 BMW 540i Touring Auto (had an easy life, looked for a 6 speed manual touring but couldn't a good find one, still love it though.

The years given are the years of the cars, I only started driving in 1996, 14 cars in 12 years sounds bad but some were second cars bought because they came along or I just liked them.

1980 Camaro (ordered it brand new from the dealer)
1966 Chevelle SS (radical 475hp muscle car)

1970 Covette Roadster (summer nights were great, 350/350hp L46)
1989 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe (brand new off showroom floor for Lori)
1989 Jeep Cherokee Limited (Illinois winter vehicle)
1993 Jeep Cherokee (another winter vehicle)
1996 Jeep Cherokee Limited ( yet another winter vehicle)
1989 BMW 535 (I hate winter vehicles, I loved this car!)
1991 BMW M5 (I loved this one too!)
1991 BMW 318iS (BMW's best kept secret)
2001 BMW 525i (Lori's 120 mile a day commuter)
2004 BMW 530i Sport (the family car)
1995 BMW M540i Sport (my current lover) ;)

Then there were about 4 F150 Pickups in there that I used for work, and of course my daughters 1993 190e Mercedes Special Edition.

To all the cars I've loved before....this is over my lifetime and starts out when I was 14 in the old '57 pickup, that thing rattled like there was no tomorrow. So the list is over a time period of 37 years.

From 1989 to 1991, I owned a rusted as hell 1981 Toyota Starlet.
It's a model that survived only one year or two in Canada. The equivalent of a Toyota Tercel of the day.

After that I used public transit only. Until e34 came along of course, two and a half year ago.

I'm confused by Nizmainiac:

Perhaps something else was called the Sierra outside the UK, but the (Ford) Sierra was only introduced here in 1983??

Anyway my cars:
1978 BL Morris Marina 1.3 - a bin and it was orange!
1981 BL Morris Ital 1.3 - I Kind of liked the marina and this was less of a bin! Nice metallic bronze colour too!:p
1985 Ford Sierra 1.6 Dark blue- Interesting car this one Original 1.8 engine was replaced by a 1.6, still had 1.8 ECU and some wierd nopn standard carb??
1992 Ford Sierra 2.0 GLX Blue- Nice car, had for 5 years but went a bit smoky and chain started to rattle. Depreciated by 95% in the time I had it!
1991 BMW 520 White - OK car not enough get up and go
1989 BMW 535 White - Bought for only for recaro leather interior to go in my 520, later moved into my...
1991 BMW 525 Glacier Blue- Liked a lot but wanted aircon so now I have a...
1993 BMW 525 Black - with aircon and sunroof, and let me tell you it was a job to find that spec in the UK!

(Never had an auto and don;t want one!!)

1973 Olds Cutlass S White with Blue Vinyl top ,coupe. Owned by my elderly aunt who gave it to her brother a Priest.. who sold it to me for $300.00 in 1980.. 350 4bbl "Rocket" was decal-ed on the Air Filter housing..

I sold that for $1.00 in 1982 when I moved to California and didn't own another vehicle till I obtained a 1991 Dodge cargo van Caravan in 1995.
Next i bought brand new off the showroom floor as it were a 1998 Chevy G2500 cargo van.. POS deluxe. Went thru SIX Tranny's P O S!
Sold that for $500.00 with 330,000 miles in 2003 and bought a 1999 G3500 Chevy cargo van with the Big 5.7 ltr V8 with 191,000 which I had till the head gasket gave way with over 350,000 miles back in 2006 just after i bought my beloved 540.
