Auto Shudder

Okay this is my first post, and am new to Bimmers.
I have a quick question on a prospective purchase.
The car is a 94 530i, 65K on Alusil Block, 125K on Car.
When driving in A mode, the tranny shifts great through all the gears, but when the convertor does its lock out/up thing in top gear it starts shuddering with light or heavy throttle, pull it back into 4th 'S4' all is fine at all speeds. The same happens when in M mode, all gears are smooth but when you shift into D it starts to shudder on light and heavy throttle, all speeds from 40MPH up 90+. :(

Any ideas, is it the sign of a bad tranny?
The car also has a miss, checked all plugs and they are new NGK, the 2nd from the rear on the drivers bank was moist and all the others looked great so I am thinking maybe a bad coil on this cylinder?

I have a 95' 530 with the same transmission symptom. I've serviced the transmission twice and this seemed to help. The shudder is still there, but a bit less noticeable. I plan to do another service in about 5K miles. I talked to a transmission shop and they thought it may be a "lazy" selenoid??? They did not think it was catastophic or indicative of a bad tranny.

If you pursue this, I'd be interested to know what you find out.
