I get similar figures: about 11 to 13L per 100 in town, and a good 8.4 on the highway cruising at 105 km/h.

I have been driving like miss Daisy half asleep today and I got 12.8L/100km from my car. Seriously this is having revolutions never going higher than 2500rpm. Mostly city driving.

When I drive like I really want to, I get 15L/100km which is a tad scary!

I'm confused on how to convert this to american standards. All I know is driving normally allows me to get 20 miles per gallon in my 525i automatic; I think that's 8.5 kilometers per liter. If you're not getting that, you have a problem.

I get an average of 10l/100km in mixed conditions and my manual is @ 242000km (150371 miles)

Here´s what it says on a german sellsite, 525i touring 7/1996 model:

Kraftstoffverbr. kombiniert: 10,2 l/100km (combination)
Kraftstoffverbr. innerorts: 15,0 l/100km (in town)
Kraftstoffverbr. außerorts: 7,4 l/100km (outta town, downhill and wind in the back :D)

So city driving @ around 14-15l isn´t so far off I guess..

But it really does depend on yer rite foot! ;)

I'm a total mileage nerd and have been recording long highway trips since I aquired the car. It has been very consistent with highway mileage (depending on which way the wind blows..........), getting between 7.8 and 8.3 L/100km or ~28-33+ mpg on various trips. For instance, summer 2007, we drove almost 8000 km (~5000 miles), including a small amount of city, recording 7.9 L/100 km.

As I don't drive in 'real' cities much, my estimates don't count ;)

Real city driving in SF I get about 15. Highway I get about 26. My old M20 car had slightly better mileage, but I didn't drive it as hard as I've been driving this new one. I'm also going to change out the plugs for good measure, since the car isn't as powerful as it should be in the higher RPM's.

My car fuel consumption is similar , about 14-15 litres in town and about 8 litres lightfooted open road to 11 litres heavyfooted open road.

Thats nearly 19mpg in real money. My OBC says I'm getting 15mpg but thats on short trips in town. Is your national standard (and your speedo) km or is it miles? I have a vested interest in asking;)
PS If you remember, Miss Daisy didnt drive. Morgan Freeman did:)

Our national standard is km's.

Yes, yes. Well in that case I've been driving like ol' Morgan did.

Most people use ??L/100km although ??km/L is much easier to understand. OBC also uses the L/100km read out.

Thats good news. When I got my car it had a km speedometer. I swapped the front to convert to miles but retained the chip in the back and it still reads km run not miles. And its still a great film
