Gasket Making?

You can go to any auto store and buy the gasket material to cut you own gasket.

Silly question... what sort of punch do I use to make the holes? or should I just x-acto them?
Go find a leather upholstery guy, they have differing diameter punches for everything.

I replaced my t-stat housing yesterday but I re-used the gasket between the housing and head.. after filling the system as soon as I started the car there was a steady stream of coolant spurting out of there. Part no. 4. Is there anything else I can use for that gasket? Or just make my own somehow?

Use old gasket and red hermetite

Buy a sheet od gasket material and an x-acto knife and carve away.

Sometime the handheld single hole punch does wonders on nibbling away holes.

I've made gaskets out of cereal boxes using a "gasket hammer" and Aviation Form-a-Gasket.

They went into farm tractors and held without fail. And as they went into tractors, it wasn't like putting a gunny sack on Heidi Klum (although she'd look quite good in one).

I wouldn't use the gasket hammer on anything aluminium without careful forethought. Cast iron is ok with a light touch.

You use the gasket hammer to form the holes by tapping the areas where the holes are (or the outside edge) with the peening end of the hammer, thus cutting/shearing the gasket material leaving a properly formed gasket.

Not factory, but very servicable.
