As mentioned in a thread i started yesterday, my SRS light is on always and my safety inspection/registration is due...

Many of you have said you taped over/removed the bulb to keep it from bugging you. My question is would this get me through inspection???

Surely they wont notice anything wrong (visually), but will it trip anything that they WILL be checking?

fyi
i will fix this, im not trying to be unsafe, but my car is a Ticket Magnet with the expired tags on it and the dealership will not happen this month ($$$)

Probably the easiest bulb to remove. Since it's at the far side of the cluster you might be able to sneak a hand in without pulling the wheel or even diconnecting the cluster.

There's a back up LED in there too.

The only fix I know is to un plug the orange box under the dash.

Im not sure how your inspections work over in the US, however the SRS is supposed to self test and the absense of an indicator light would give the game away would it not?

Do you have to have a working airbag for an inspection? is it a case of if its fitted, it has to work.

Many places in the US don't even have inspections. The ones that do don't seem near as strict as the U.K.
The scrutineering isn't done by experts either.

exactly my thinking. Ill be going to a two-bit gas station that offers inspections as an after thought.

...but i think i may just run it into the dealer after all. I want a compression test on my Nik engine and may as well kill these two birds and have it done correctly. Credit card debt never hurt anybody right?...
(unless of course one of those "$500 seat pads" that the Stealer tech mentioned may be the culprit, then its pulled pulb and electric tape city!)
