We call that finish Fly-cutting, to help the gasket bite. I hate to use the US version of English but.........Awesome!!!!

Looks might fine to me!

Those marks are from carbon when cut on the mill, deck is completely flat.

Now you need to lap the block and the head together. Then you can go without the head gasket. Lots of elbow grease to do it......

Heard of this being done. Never seen it. In machining, the phenomena is called 'wringing'. Having such flat and polished surfaces that air is 'wrung' out and the pieces need to be slide sideways to come apart as the vacuum is too great to overcome.

It's why you can stack gauge blocks together and not have dimensional growth.

Major Cool Points if you do it!

Definitely cannot do that. The thermal expansion of aluminum and iron is very very different lol. Plus you need a HG to prevent piston to valve contact.
