Will the car detector automatically turn on if I left it on when I start the car?
or will I have to pull a different wire..

there are nearer places... like the sunroof connector and the electric mirror connector to source the ign. only 12+.

the question is whether this power source is constant on or only when the key is turned.. unless you mean ign. only 12+...

I don't think that vanity wire is only hot in acc/ run - IIRC it is either constant hot or hot with lights, but a quick check with a multimeter should tell you.... if I have a chance later I will have a look.

you would not want constant 12+, because then the radar detector would be on and draining the battery when not running.
