So my brother decided to go and buy himself some 18" M-Parrallel replicas that some guy had on his 7 and put them on his E34. Well, the struts sit on top of the tires in the front so what is wrong? Is the offset different? I'm afraid of the idea of him using spacers to fix it in the front because I think the fender would sit on the tires, instead.

What size are the tires?

hopefully they arn't the tires from the 7....

245/45 is too big.

245/40/18 is correct

Apparently, our Paps has these nasty looking 18" bling wheels down at the shop he aquired somehow that have 235/35's on them, if he recalls correctly, so at least he isn't up the creek. It's just that the tires on these replicas are practically new... hopefully they're worth the $650 he paid. Riken umm Raptors.

Are the 245/45's going to be okay in the rear, though?

the 245/45's are still too big for the rear.

use the tire size calculator to compare the original to the new size, you want them to be the same (or extremely close to it).

on my 18x8.5" wheel, i am running 235/40/18 tires, and on my 18x9.5" wheels i am running 265/35/18

Now he says, they're either 245/35 or 255/35's that he has at the shop. They are about half-tread, he says. I hope my bro can sell these Rikens.

So what is it that won't work? We don't hear them hitting. Are they going to rub or something in the travel?

you started the thread saying the tyres were hitting the struts...

I am running 18in MPar reps and they are very close to the struts but they never touch, I am running 235/40/18s as well. Mine are same all round as my rears are not wider. Looks like you might have to invest in new tyres if they're rubbing, your speedo might be out as well as the overall circumference of your wheels / tyres are more than expected.

Yeah, but liquidtiger said they wouldn't work in the rear either. My Paps felt all around in the rear and they don't come close to anything so I wondered what he felt the problem was going to be.

I'm only worried about physical problems, I don't care about the speedometer problem.

Well, my brother ended up buying the 2000 528i, but he wants to keep his rims. Can we put his rims on the E39? Also, will they work with the 245/45's all the way around on the E39? I hope so, because I get the factory Style 5's with good tires for my E34 if they do. ^_^

take em to be bored out from 72.56 to 74.1 mm and I don't see why not.

Well, when he got them, they had come off a 7, and he had to use the hubcentric rings to put them on his E34, anyway. They went ahead and put them on the E39 and they fit perfect.

Now, the only question is whether he can go back to running the 245/45/18's all the way around on the E39. We had to change the two front tires when he ran his replica's on the E34 because the 245's rubbed the strut. Anybody running 245/45/18's on an E39? Also, the replica's are 8" wide instead of the factory 8.5".
