OE radio SCAN Light out??

I have an OE BMW/Alpine 5 cassette radio with what appears to be a bulb out. Not sure though as only the SCAN button has no light. All the other buttons appear to have normal lighting. Is this button supposed to be lighted? It just seems odd that only one button has a bulb out.

I have seen on other sites a general approach to soldering in new bulbs. That I can do. I just do not want to pull the radio out and apart for nothing. Any thoughts or general advice? TIA

Quite curious. All the buttons illumination is from a common source through a clear plastic optical "manifold". Either something is behind the button blocking light or the face of the button is too dirty for the light to show through.
Is the SCAN legend visible? I've had radios with some of the paint worn off of the buttons allowing the white plastic beneath to show. Perhaps someone painted your scan button to cover this.

Not dirty or painted. Looks like I might need to take the radio apart. Rather not.
