found this on dotars (http://dynamic.dotars.gov.au/recalls/Search_Form.asp?Category=Cars) but how do we get it fixed, do we just goto a bmw dealership?

I was just reading the radiator cap recall and learned that M20 and M40 engined cars are meant to have a 1.4bar radiator cap. All the other models should have the 2.0bar cap. My M20 has the wrong cap!

I've just sent a message to Brisbane BMW. It would be strange if they actually had an active recall for a car this old. I think that it might be a typo on the dotars site.

hmmm i going to the dealers in the next couple of day...I will be picking up some parts AND talking with the principal re relationsip with car club..is it time to test that new relationship?

Well, they took the vin#s from my cars and looked them up in their system and surprise surprise, no recalls.

I think it must be an error on Dotars because I had a look in the etk and the steering column/steering lock parts are common between the e32 and e34, so the recall should apply to the e32 as well. It all looks wrong to me. Plus surely one of us here on the forum would have some knowledge of this problem if it does exist.

I did learn two things today - my 525 has the wrong radiator cap, and one of my workmates should watch out for the recall on his s-type jag catching fire.

Mine has already failed. Next dealer trip I'll inquire about compensation.
If this is the piece I think it is #32 32 1 160278, the relacement part is identical design and I did'nt notice any different materials either.

That part was only fitted to japanese market automatic E34s produced after 07/92 with a drivers airbag. Is that right?

Mine is affected- a 10/88 535i.

The link blew last year and was replaced by two 40A fuses which I thought would blow (since one should never gang up smaller fuses in parallel, theoretically). They are all I could find at the time.

They haven't blown yet! (But I have a new single link jic).

Perhaps if they were like this stock, they'd last longer and wouldn't be recalled so soon (20 years).

The '95 touring.
I'm assuming this is referring to the steering lock mechanism(a new thread on this today I see).
I was at the dealer Friday hoping to recover my $100 and my parts man, whom I trust, says no recall on my car except or some wire clip for the airbag harness.
