Yet another interior swap. I hate blue interiors.

Got another black interior from our local scrapyard. We beat our old record of stripping a car, got it down to an hour and a half, carpet, dashboard , everything!
Excuse the ugly pics, my digicam hates low level light.

Currently have two dashboards to choose from

More seats etc. The frames for these seats are trashed, very bent.
At least the leather is good.

I will try update this thread regularly, want to try get this interior in either this weekend or the next. Currently have the headliner, pillars and rear shelf sitting waiting to go in, suede rocks!

Are those rear headrests?

UPDATE:

Rear Console: 2 bolts hold this on at the bottom.
http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/8286/1rearconsoleuo3.jpg

Front Console: 2 Screws hold the rear and front consoles together. One is hidden in the storage compartment and the other is below the handbrake boot. If you look closely at the hole, just infront of the seatbelt clip, you'll notice a bit of black plastic. This is put over a threaded stud and is held down by a plastic nut.

If you look at the rear of the front console you will see the 2 locations where
the screws hold the rear console on.

I can't understand how some people can jack the car incorrectly. The previous owner put a huge dent in the passenger footwell. Here you can see that we fixed that and the bent seat hook.

Congratulations mate, that's simply beautiful. How you could find such a nice interior in a scrapyard is beyond me though.

Looks like a heater core fix :D

Very nice. The black does look a lot better, but I'm biased

Did you use anything like Dynamat http://www.dynamat.com/ under the carpet or under the headliner?
Has anyone has used Dynamat?

dyna mat is an incredible product. the difference really is night and day, although in the e34 the cabin is already very well insulated so it might not be worth the time effort and money to do it correctly. i used it on a customers chevy xtreme s10, that i put a JL 12w7 in the back of the extended cab. since its a truck and such a small space not designed for acoustics it diddnt sound to good before i laid down the dynamat. it helped acoustics and helps a great deal with dampening the sound to the exterior of the vehicle. definitly worth the money in a car with alot of road noise. VERY NICE JOB BRO, you have a wonderful 5. i am truly amazed at how incredible that interior is. you have officially beaten my stockpile of bmw parts in my home. if you are interested in parting ways with an extra rear sunshade you might have let me know. props

Edit: another great use for dynamat is in your trunk, if you are going to have any worthwhile sub in there. in the e34 there is basically no insulation in this area and dynamat would a perfect cure for this. good luck

That is simply awesome. Fantastic work. I never liked blue interiors anyway (who the hell decided on that?) and the black headliner compliments the interior very nicely.

I don't recall seeing any pics or mention of getting the door cards from the scrapyard, did you have these already or did you dye your blue ones?

May I add, it's a refreshing change to see a RHD interior :D

yes, how long did it take to do the conversion, I mean take everything out and put it back in and also, what country are you in? (seeing that it's RHD). Great work, there looks like a lot of things to change around eeeeeeekk!

@M20Turbo - Didn't use any sound deadening material.

@chris e34 - I do have a spare sunshade sitting the garage.

@LunatiC - The door cards came with the rest of the interior :)

@Paul in NZ - It seems that most of the 540i's and 530i's that i have seen down here have the leather covered consoles etc. I live in South Africa.

@BigKriss - The car was stripped of most of the blue interior in about 2 hours. It took about another 2 days to get most of the black interior in, as there were quite a few small things to fix first.

Any plans for the old interior? Willing to sell some of it? I have the hated blue interior, which unsurprisingly is hard to find...haha
