I have a 1994 525i and about 2 or 3 times a month the car will only pop out of gear in first gear only. It use to do a big bang now it is not that bad. I replaced the shifter bushings and all other little parts for the shifter but it didn't help. What can I do to fix it. Thanks

I had this issue with my E34 on all gears where the lever throw is forward when I first bought it.

The car had been in a collision that had caused the engine and transmission to move forward slightly , which caused the lever to just touch the body where it comes through the transmission tunnel.

It may be worthwhile inspecting your engine and gearbox mounts if you havent already diagnosed the problem.
