Proably will be picking up some RDSport (Racing Dynamics S.p.A.) M30 headers, $500, local pick up. Am sending picutres to the RDSport guys to verify their legit and not the knockoff Racing Dynamics stuff. Now I know on bmwe34.net it outlines having to weld and do some type of coating....

So whats really involved?? All this! http://www.bmwe34.net/e34main/upgrade/Headers.htm

O man!

And I don't even know if my M-Pars deal is gonna go through :(

Save your money. Unless you're running an aftermarket cam with some added overlap, you'll pickup about zip in HP.

If you do go ahead with it, expect to cut off the factory down tubes in front of the cat and have flanges welded on to mate to the header. This kills your ability to go back to factory. Or, if you are no subject to emissions tests a better solution would be to not cut the factory system and have a 'track pipe' made that connects the headers to the exhaust system post cat.

Jeff <-- RD headers with a MM 3.7 engine.

+1 for the "don't do it" camp

btw, got the suspension in the M3 for the most part, need a couple shims and I'm good to go for alignment... I need to figure out how to smog/register it tho.

I had them on my old '92, and may eventualy put them on my '89, but as said before, the gains are minimal. They look cool, and there was an apparent increase in smoothness in both the power delivery and idle, but little, if any, actual power gains. YMMV.

I decided not to go ahead with them. The guys brother has a 92 535iM...I may trade. What goodies (if any) were there on the 92 vs the 90, other than the cabin filter?

In your case... 5 speeds of glory.
