Are there any other things that could make the slush box in a 525iT not want to downshift from 4th to 3rd? I've seen the pics of the internal gasket failures. Just wondering if there is anything else that could cause this. I've been thinking about checking the TPS and cleaning the throttle body.
When going 50-60MPH and ease on the throttle it doesn't downshift. RPMs oscillate and it seems to hunt between 3rd and 4th gear. Mash the throttle or pull back into 3rd gets a downshift with no problem.
The tranny is perfect otherwise. No clunks at all, even into reverse in the freezing cold this morn.
Car has 173k. I bought this with a manual swap in mind but I will prob run the auto box through the winter while I collect parts.
