Hello Guys,

I am a straight e34 guy and promised myself to always have one. I am in the market for an e38 and was wondering if any of you knew if the 2000 740il's were available with a sport package.

Any feedback would be awesome.

Thanks,

il? No i'd imagine not. The true sport package for for the short wheelbase cars makes sense but not the long version, otherwise it will have all that extra self-leveling suspension stuff because it's an "IL". My dad has the '00 740i sport, OEM, not some dealer added package.

The sport package became available in the long-wheelbase E38 for 2001. Previous to that, in 2000, the E38 iL was available with the 18" parallel wheels as a stand-alone option, but for 2001 you had to order the sport package to get them. On the iL with sport package you didn't get the M-sport suspension because the iL already had Electronic Damping Control. About all you did get in the 740iL Sport was the Vavona wood interior trim, Shadowline exterior trim, and the 18" M-parallel wheels. Not the sport seats, sport steering wheel, Steptronic transmission with special high-stall-speed torque convertor, or 3.15:1 final drive!

Thank you for all of your comments. It makes total sense now. I am about to pick up a 2000 740IL with the M-parallels. I still think it is a great car. black/gray interior, Navigation (the old shity one), 130k miles but it drives really well. I'm getting it for a little under 10k.

Thanks again to you guys.
