Pat!

Welcome back man. You still have Big Red, correct? Am I mistaken or did I read somewhere on bf.c that you sold off a lot of your other cars?

Anyway, I hope you can ocassionally give us some kill stories either here or on bf.c ... I really enjoyed them back in the day. :)

Welcome back. On your cardomain page it says you had some work done by metric mechanic. What did you think of them? would you recommend them?
Thanks

Oh man... been a while Pat, what's in your arsenal these days?

I still got that 535i, motor's grumpy tho and I haven't had much incentive to put $$$ into it. Got a 95 540i/6, still got that supercharged 318 (tho the subframe's torn, I'm gonna either part it or sell it), and picked up a 95 M3 to replace it as track bitch. Cooling system just got freshened, time to put on suspension.

So wait, let me get this straight, your 3.7 m30 is being replaced with a s38 (with boost I'm assuming ... and lots of it)?

Can I have the old powerplant? :D

I called them up a while back to ask about their engine conversions and I talked with I think it might've been Jim about their engines for about 45 minutes. Seemed like they're good people and I've been wanting them to punch my engine out to 3.3 litres. abit pricey though

what I really want is my engine stroked to 3.3 or maybe even 3.5 litres. Pretty much a complete engine rebuild from the bottom up everything but to get up to 3.3 they quoted me 11k. So I'm think it might be cheaper to just go for an S52

I don't want an eight I want a big six...as in 4.0l straight 6 but I don't think that's in my price range right now...as a matter of fact neither is an S52:p

i've got one or two if you can't find anything close, one out and maybe one in a motor, the one out could maybe use a polishing but it otherwise good (had some water in the oil and it left minor staining on the journals), i was going to use it in my build but we got this car
http://www.fileden.com/files/2006/11/26/427251/e395.jpg
and it didn't have water in the oil, not sure what it's worth

When you get to this phase you generally rather not know.

I am dropping another $2000 just in forged internal parts. $1750 turbo... the new wiggins clamps I am using are $250 per JOINT. It gets out of control fast.

and pat, yep, it's me :)

Assuming you do all the work yourself (instillation and fabrication of exhaust and intercooler piping) and you don't take the car to a shop, how much does it cost to turbocharge an e34 properly?

Good.....glad it's you

You can use **** parts and do it for $1,000 or you can use good parts and do it for $10,000

BigKriss
11-04-2007, 08:17 AM
By properly, I meant new parts that weren't **** and an approximation of double the horsepower that wouldn't break down (was reliable). Would usd$10,000 cover it?

well on the M30....you can get a good turbo program...but cost will depend on if you want mild or wild.....

I can possibly do an M30 motor stock turbo setup for about 4k parts and labor
for aprox 325 rwhp on an E34 M30....with 9-10psi max without having to tune.

turbo
manifold
wastegate
bov
boost gauge only
manual controller
adj fpr
intercooler
all ic piping and misc parts
fuel pump
and exhaust

Jon K

Kriss there are just too many variables to put a price on a "turbo setup". If it were an off the shelf kit like a TCD obviously we can put a price on it. But, you can pay $750 for a turbo or $2200. You can pay $300 for an intercooler or $1200. So really, it comes down to how resourceful you are.
