I got this license plate light error a few days ago so I went and got new bulbs. Popped them in, and still only one side lights. Hmph. For the time being I jumpered power and ground from the working socket to the not working socket but I suspect I might still get a "license plate light" error if the check control unit has two channels one for each side :(

I guess I could check the wiring but I didn't see anything bad back by that hinge on the trunk. I dunno what the deal is - anyone ever have this issue?

Someone really needs to figure out the check control module so we know what resistors are what and can simply jumper them or something. I'd love to get rid of low beam, engine oil, brake linings, and now license plate errors.

One side of the plate
im not sure...but try swapping LKM or maybe if not the L.plate harness then try checking the socket.

They share same ground but have seperate lives from the LKM so I would expect a fault message. Was surprised recently when mine DIDNT tell me I had a front side light out.

surely the bbot hing e wiring,i have one rear fog light that doesnt owrk wire is broke clean in two.You have to get that plastic sheath of and have a good look at those wires.

I'd pull back the sheath and check the wiring at the hinge point. Like everyone says, that is the most probable cause.
