My 89 dashboard has just been replaced with a 92 one. All are functional except no indication of gear mode and number. I don't mind this but can the alarm of "TRAN PROGRAM" be cleared. Thanks for any advices.

If you have no gear mode in the dash shown, then 'trans program' is shown.
And your car should run on emergency program. Sometimes the shift switch must be cleaned.
Look on Gale's page under 'console reomoval' which also includes cleaning of the switch under the console.

Thanks for your advice first. I am wondering if it is caused by different model of E34 since the problem occurs after the dashboard replacement. The gear of my 89 one is P, R, D, 3, 2. Is it same as that of 92?

way different tranny, the tranny in the 89 is a normal hydrallicly controlled zf 4hp22, the 91 and up 525 has the computer controlled chevy, you way just be able to swap the codeing plug on the back of the cluster with your old one and make it happy
