Just bought a 1989 535 5speed. Has some issues and I need some objective opinions weather to bring this up to nice shape or drive it till it breaks. It needs: front pass. window motor. Headliner, seats are torn but function. Rear bumper. Shift boot and knob. (Will a 525 one fit?) Paint is rough but no rust at all. Wheels also are true and free of rash but need paint. Cluster shows no miles. Actual is near 200K. Needs muffler. Needs one strut. PO recently changed only one. WHO DOES THAT? PO was a slob. Found 1.50 in shift boot. Needs flex disc. Needs door skins. I hate it when they are screwed on. Car runs well and stays cool. Does have the fifty mph shimmy though.
I have many used parts to use so expenses would not be as much as normal. I would have to change out interior from black to parchment. Carpet is a rare light green. How would that match up? Car recently had valve job so head should not be an issue. I figure for about 3k I could have this done right. Paid 2300 for car and 525 for it to ship here from Orlando. So is almost 6k for total. Any suggestions?
